About Highlnd Colours

“My business is ‘Highland Colours’ and my name is Sarah Matthess.
As a fibre artist I try to use locally grown wool and dye plants in most of my items. Some of those plants are collected from surrounding areas, and some, like madder, coreopsis woad and weld, I grow in my own garden. This is the softest of the soft. Very silky slippery ringlets from Northern Ireland grown Bluefaced Leicester. I’ve spun this to retain as many of the ringlets as I can, and it’s over-plied with a fine cobweb strand of commercially spun silk.” Sarah. Highland Colours
