About Highlnd Colours
“My business is ‘Highland Colours’ and my name is Sarah Matthess.
As a fibre artist I try to use locally grown wool and dye plants in most of my items. Some of those plants are collected from surrounding areas, and some, like madder, coreopsis woad and weld, I grow in my own garden. Handspun from super soft, ringlets from Bluefaced Leicester fleece, that was grown in Northern Ireland.
This was superb fibre. Silky soft, and lovely ringlets, which I have tried to retain as much as I can in this core-spun yarn. Over-plied with commercially spun cobweb fine silk. ” Sarah. Highland Colours
